Earth & Science Festival

WHEN: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

WHERE: North Park, North Second Street and Las Palmas Avenue

DETAILS: United Patterson's Second Annual Earth & Science Festival at North and South parks in downtown Patterson. More than 30 student and organization booths, trash art show, free food, live entertainment, awards, prizes and a variety of hands-on activities and games!

Trash Art Show!

WHEN: Drop off items 9 to 9:30 a.m.

WHERE: North and South parks, North Second Street and Las Palmas Avenue

Youth - 5th Grade Individual; Youth - 5th Grade Group

6th Grade - 12th Grade Individual; 6th Grade - 12th Grade Group; Adult Individual

Art must be clearly labeled with first and last name and school (if applies). A minimum of 8 pieces of trash (no new material), not dirty, not dangerous. All pieces must be appropriate for young viewers (items may be removed subject to judges’ discretion). Artwork to be dropped off between 9:00 - 9:30 a.m. at Downtown Park. Voting will take place throughout the day. Winners announced at 12:30.

Civil Air Patrol Open House

WHEN: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

WHERE: Civil Air Patrol - Squadron 50, 700 Tioga Drive, Modesto

DETAILS: Lt. Col. Arthur King Composite Squadron 50 is hosting an open house. Young people, ages 12 to 18, who are interested in flying, aviation, search and rescue or the military, are invited to check out this program, where they can begin their journey. Squadron 50 only accepts new cadets a few times a year. Our Cadet Program teaches youth ages 12 to 20 about leadership, exploring aerospace, aviation careers, emergency services, physical fitness, character development and so much more. Cadets also have opportunities to attend other Civil Air Patrol events in other areas.
