Editor's note: The body was found on Saturday, May 11.
First responders arriving at what was reportedly an injury accident just outside the city of Oakdale early Friday morning found a crime scene instead.
Shortly after 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, the California Highway Patrol, Fire, Ambulance and the Stanislaus County Sheriff Department were dispatched to an accident on the 7600 block of Rodden Road; single person down in the roadway, with injuries.
When first responders arrived, they came upon what appeared to be a crime scene, and not an injury accident. The Stanislaus County Crimes Against Person Team responded to the scene to investigate.
At approximately 8 a.m., the California Highway Patrol received a report of an unrelated accident on Highway 99 near the intersection at West Main Street in Turlock. When they arrived and began to investigate, it appeared that someone had been shot inside the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Scott Williams, 21, of Riverbank.
A connection was established between the vehicle involved in the accident and the deceased female found on Rodden Road. Williams was arrested on a homicide charge by the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office, and is not eligible for bail.
The California Highway Patrol also arrested Williams for the additional charges of driving under the influence, possession of a concealed loaded firearm and resisting arrest.
The victim of this homicide is an adult female. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of her family.
An autopsy is scheduled for later this week.
