Editor:

We have a lot of challenges to deal with in our community, from health care to creating more jobs. It takes a practical, bi-partisan leader to make that happen and I am thrilled that Rep. Harder is stepping up to the plate so far.

The first time I met him was at the Women’s March, and it was remarkable to see a local leader be so accessible the community. He even took a quick selfie with me and asked me about my biggest worries. It means a lot to me that he’s available to the community.

At his latest town hall in Tracy I appreciated that everyone had a chance to speak their mind. Rep. Harder listened and respected the opinions of everyone who was there.

One of the things that struck me about Rep. Harder is that he continues to show a level of respect for his constituents and he seems honest and sincere. At the town hall I heard how my worries were now part of the bills he was working on.

The biggest thing for me is to have a member of Congress who listens. I am speechless that we have a representative like this. As an immigrant and citizen who has worked all my life and never taken a handout, it is encouraging to see a leader who is working just as hard to make sure that everyone has a part in our society.

Sincerely,

John Silveira
