Our new Congressman Josh Harder has been working hard for us in Washington, DC! He came home during the Congressional break, and made it a point to keep in touch here in the valley. Josh not only convened a great town hall in Ceres on January 19th, but did a listening tour throughout the district, and held open office hours. I attended the packed town hall meeting and was very favorably impressed with the way he listened to all his constituents who attended, and their concerns with the government shutdown, our crucial water issues here in the valley, and health care and more. He emphasized and showed that his job is to represent everyone in his CA-10 District, not just those who worked to get him elected. On day one of the new Congress he voted to re-open the government (thankfully the government has since reopened!), followed by voting to fund the Department of Agriculture, plus co-sponsored an amendment to provide relief for farmers whose crops have been affected by natural disasters and other things such as our huge California fires this year. I have even gotten a chance to talk to him personally about both immigration issues and health care legislation. He’s going to be a great Congressman!
