Originally scheduled to take place on March 7, the match between Patterson and Buhach Colony would have to wait until March 11 in order to take place due to weather.

The Thunder did not field any doubles teams on Monday, meaning the Tigers were tasked with winning just two of the singles matches in order to win a team victory.

The Patterson squad put together five wins of the six matches scheduled, to defeat Buhach 8-1 and improve to 3-0 in the Central California Conference.

Number one singles player Chris Tapia defeated Jenzen Ballesil 6-1 and 6-4 to stay undefeated thus far this season.

In a match that went to tiebreaker in order to result in a victor, senior Logan Davis was defeated by Javier Mendoza 7-5, 4-6, 7-10.

Junior Jonathan Trans put together a 6-1 and 6-2 victory over Giancarlo Flores.

David Prado-Bustos blanked Alex Lucadero 6-0 before winning 6-1 in the second set in the number four singles matchup.

Freshman Diego Herrera continued the winning trend with a 6-2 and 6-1 victory over Rafael Hurtado in the number five singles match.

In the final match of the evening, Jaret Hartsell and Diego Ponce were in a contested match that resulted in a 6-4 victory for Hartsell, but Hartsell had much better sledding in the second-set dispatching of Ponce 6-0 to finish off the evening.

Tigers defeat Livingston

Patterson put together four singles and two doubles victories to defeat Livingston High on March 12 in the second half of back-to-back games to start this week.

Seniors Chris Tapia, Logan Davis and Jonathan Trans started the Tigers off with victories. Freshman Diego Herrera’s match necessitated a tiebreaker in order to earn the Tigers their fourth victory on Tuesday.

The duo of sophomores Giovanni Galves and Miguel Prado notched Patterson’s fifth team point, to stay alive in the team match.

It was up to sophomore Jason Elcano and James Howell to settle the 5-5 tie on the team score heading into the final match. Howell and Elcano came through with a 6-4 and 6-3 victory, to preserve Patterson’s undefeated start through four matches this season.

Only Patterson and El Capitan remain undefeated in the CCC. Merced sits in third place with a 3-1 record.

Patterson will play their third match of the week on March 14 versus fellow undefeated El Capitan at 3 p.m. at the Patterson High tennis courts.
