Patterson’s only loss thus far this season was to Los Banos on Sept. 26. Since that loss, Patterson has strung together a pair of wins, including a 9-0 win over Pacheco last Thursday, to improve to 5-1 in the Western Athletic Conference. Patterson only trails Los Banos, who has yet to lose a match to a WAC opponent at a perfect 6-0 record. Central Valley trails in third place with a 4-2 record.

Patterson’s clean sweep of Pacheco last Thursday began with Ezi Ogbuli defeating Francis Jacob in two sets 6-1 and 6-0.

Breanna Hernandez kept the momentum going, defeating Chelsea Cano 6-3 and 6-1. Marissa Tellas blanked her opponent Janette Salinas 6-0 and 6-0, while Erika Reynoso came out victorious over Fernanda Aguayo 6-3 and 6-1.

Ryann Basulto won convincingly over Daniela Mendoza, 6-1 and 6-2. In the last singles match of the evening, Maya Turner shut out Allyson Magana 6-0 and 6-0 to give Patterson a perfect 6-0 start in the singles matches.

Doubles partners Manpreet Kaur and Aurora Gonzalez defeated Daisy Aldama and Guadalupe Santoyo 6-1 and 6-0.

The good times kept coming for Patterson, when Marisol Jimenez and Danielle Werra toppled Anarosa Velasquez and Xitaly Gomez 6-1 and 6-3.

In the final match of the evening, partners Veronica Martinez and Tiffany Do won over Theresa Garcia and Daisy Cermeno 6-2 and 6-0.

The win over Pacheco completed a pair of victories for Patterson last week. On Oct. 5 Patterson pummeled Livingston 8-1.

Patterson is still in a position to vie for a WAC Championship, but will need a critical wins down the stretch to achieve that goal.

Patterson traveled to play Ceres on Tuesday after press time, and will then follow with a critical match in their final home match of the season against Los Banos on Thursday. Thursday will also be the evening Patterson celebrates senior night.

Patterson will then play the current third place team Central Valley on Oct. 17, before finishing off the season on Oct. 19 at Livingston.

WAC singles finals will occur on Oct. 24, with the doubles final following the next day on Oct. 25. All league finals are scheduled to take place at Los Banos High School.
