The Patterson High boys tennis team hosted Golden Valley High on Feb. 28, for their second match of the season. Patterson started their season with a 6-3 victory against Atwater High on Feb. 26, and followed that up with an 8-1 victory versus Golden Valley last Thursday.
Patterson number one singles player senior Chris Tapia dispatched of Brent Rowen in two sets 6-0 and 6-2.
Patterson senior Logan Davis also won in two sets, defeating Brian Hartman 6-1 and 6-3.
Golden Valley’s Xang Vang was the only Cougar to record a victory on Thursday, beating Jonathan Trans in three sets 7-6, 1-6 and 7-6.
Senior David Prado-Bustos got Patterson back in the win column with a 6-0 and 6-1 rout of Andrew Lau.
Freshman Diego Herrera and senior Jaret Hartsell finished off the singles matches with victories over Michael Vang and Jonathan Valencia in two sets, to clinch the match for the Tigers.
The Tigers’ duo of Jesus Torres and Alex Linares beat Evan Rodriguez and Marc Saucedo 6-1 and 6-2 in the number one doubles match.
Patterson sophomores Jovanni Galvez and Miguel Prado breezed past Prabhjot Rai and Riddi Khanthasamran in two sets 6-0 and 6-1.
Golden Valley forfeited the third doubles match, giving Patterson a victory by default.
