Claire Pierce and McKenzie Cousins continue to enjoy gymnastics. Competing for Classic Gymnastics for the second year, Cousins and Pierce continue to improve on their craft and find success at the competitive level.

The Creekside Middle Schoolers traveled to Burlingame the weekend of March 9 to represent Classic Gymnastics at the Accel’s Girl Power Invite 2019.

Pierce competed in the XG level B Division, while Cousins participated in the XG level C Division.

The trip was a fruitful endeavor for both.

Pierce compiled a pair of first-place finishes in the events, while capturing gold in the all-around. Pierce led the pack in the vault event (9.55) and the bars event (9.275), but had to settle for second-place beam competition (9.4325), and third in the floor event (9.425). Pierce’s consistency led to top marks in the all-around (37.50) taking first place.

Cousins put together a first-place routine in the beam event (9.45). She finished with a pair of fourth-place results in the vault (9.3) and the floor event (9.35), while taking third in the bars (9.35). Her effort paid off with a first-place finish in the all-around (37.4).

Pierce is currently in seventh grade at Creekside Middle School. Cousins is in eighth grade. Both not only compete in gymnastics, but also dance at the Trinity Dance Studio in Patterson, along with participating in their local 4H club.

The two will continue to compete for Classic Gymnastics in Tracy, and hope to attend state and regional competitions in the upcoming months.
