Delta Charter High senior Mario Perez finished the California Interscholastic Federation cross-country season with a 33rd-place finish at the CIF state championship meet Saturday at Woodward Park in Fresno.

Perez, competing in a field of 196 runners in the Division V race, ran the 5-kilometer course in 16 minutes, 40 seconds. Division V winner Trevor Reinhart of MarinAcademy ran the course in 14:59.

Perez was the first Delta Charter athlete to compete at the state level. He won the Sac-Joaquin Section race Nov. 15 at Folsom High, running the 5-kilometer course in 16:35.
