Mountain House High School students and other kids in Lammersville Unified School District headed back to class Wednesday.

The high school had nearly 1,600 kids arrive for the first day, greeted by Principal Ben Fobert at the gate. School staff members wearing blue shirts wandered through the crowd gathered in the quad, where students had an hour to socialize with friends and teachers before heading to their first classes of the year.

Tracy Learning Center started school Monday, followed by Tracy Unified School District on Tuesday. Jefferson School District will get back to class Thursday; New Jerusalem and Delta Charter schools will follow suit Monday; and Banta School will do the same Tuesday.
