Tracy Police Department

Tracy residents can weigh in on the search for the next chief of police at community forums Friday and Saturday and through an online survey.

Residents will be invited to talk about the qualifications and attributes they believe a police chief should have. Public safety issues and the recruitment process will also be discussed.

The recruitment firm Teri Black & Co., from Los Angeles County, will host Friday’s forum at 7 p.m. in the City Council chambers, 333 Civic Center Plaza. Saturday’s forum will begin at 10 a.m. in the Kimball High School auditorium, 3200 Jaguar Run.

People can also give their opinions through an online survey. From Friday until June 28, the survey will be available in both English and Spanish on the city’s website, www.cityoftracy.org.

The nationwide search is to replace Chief Larry Esquivel, who joined the Tracy Police Department in February 2016 and departed in August 2018.

Alex Neicu has served as the interim chief of police since Esquivel’s departure.
