Independence Day

Tracy and Mountain House residents celebrated Independence Day with parades and festivities in parks in their communities before Tracy capped off the celebration with an official fireworks show sponsored by Tracy Chamber of Commerce and the city at Tracy High School’s Wayne Schneider Stadium.

A midmorning parade from Sixth Street to Lincoln Park along Central Avenue and Holly Drive was followed by awards for some of the parade participants. Cavallo Riding Center won the “Most Patriotic” award, and Royal Gymnastics took the “Best Business” award. Tracy Masonic Family was declared “Best Nonprofit” entry, and Wave Fast Pitch won for “Best Float.” The “Best of Show” honors went to the Powerhouse Dance Academy entry.

Early risers got a jump on the Fourth of July festivities with a hot air balloon launch and the Tracy Breakfast Lions’ annual pancake breakfast at Lincoln Park at daybreak.
