Jaeden Matthew Martinez arrived Thursday morning to become the first baby born in Tracy in 2015.

Jaeden’s parents, Sharon Thompson, 17, and Roy Martinez, 22, both Tracy residents, said their son arrived at 7:29 a.m.

Thompson said her labor contractions began at 9 p.m. Dec. 31, and she went to the hospital about an hour before her son was born.

Jaeden tipped the scales at 7 pounds, 10 ounces and measured 20 inches at birth.

Thompson said her son wasn’t a fussy baby and spent most of New Year’s Day sleeping.

Holding his son, Martinez said he was happy that Jaeden — so far the only grandchild for his parents — would carry on his family name .

“It’s all a new experience,” Martinez said. “We both get to grow and learn from it.”
