Members of the Garcia family — Frank Garcia Sr. (from left), George Garcia, Esther Garcia Kelly and Sunla Valencia — gathered Sunday at the Guadalupe Center in front of the Dia de los Muertos altar for Lupe Morelos Garcia, who died in 2003 at the age of 71.

The three-day program at the center, sponsored by the South Side Community organization, honored deceased family members with altars, a talk by Mercedes Silveria on the meaning of the annual observance, and dancing by Ballet Folklorico Janitzio and the Iron Mountain Dancers.
