The Tracy High baseball team couldn’t get the timely hits they needed on Friday in their 2-0 loss at Bella Vista High in Fair Oaks.

The loss ends the Bulldogs’ Sac-Joaquin Section Division 2 playoff run in the second round of the championship tournament, while Bella Vista (23-5, 15-3 Capital Valley Conference) now moves on to join the top four teams in Division 2 for double-elimination play.

Sophomore Kyle Corona got all three of the Bulldogs' hits, including a double to lead off the seventh inning, but he was never able to advance past third base. Bella Vista junior pitcher Jake Torres pitched a complete game and struck out nine Tracy batters over seven innings, while allowing two walks. Another Tracy batter reached on an error.

Tracy junior starting pitcher Devin Williams got the loss after he went 4 1/3 innings and allowed three hits. Bella Vista scored two runs, one of them earned, off of Williams in the third inning. Junior Blake Ornellas pitched 1 2/3 innings of relief, facing five batters. He struck out two and another was hit by a pitch, but Tracy catcher Corona threw that runner out trying to steal second base, the second base runner Corona threw out trying to steal base on Friday.

Tracy finishes its season with a 12-17 record, 7-8 in the Tri-City Athletic League.
