The top baseball and softball players in the area will gather tonight for the 29th annual All Star Classic, hosted by the United Way of San Joaquin and played at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton.
The exhibition games draw players from 35 high schools, mostly from San Joaquin County, including nine softball players from Tracy, Millennium and Kimball high schools and 12 baseball players from Tracy, West, Kimball, Mountain House and Millennium high schools. All of them just completed their senior year.
All the local softball players will be on the South team.
The Tracy High softball players are pitcher Karina Faasisila, infielder Emily Yanke and outfielder Isabel Cargill. Millennium is represented by infielders Brittney Rockwell and Katie Chambers and outfielder Megan Chambers. Kimball’s all-star players are pitcher and infielder Kaitlyn Petrovich and outfielders Marissa Magana and Xiana Villalobos.
They’ll be joined by players from East Union, Lathrop, Los Banos, Oakdale, Sierra, Sonora and Weston Ranch high schools. They will play against the North team, whose players are mostly from Stockton and Lodi.
Most of the local baseball players will play for the South team. They are Andres DeLeon, Noah Hering, Jacob Vales and Carter Leal from Mountain House High; Joey Corso and Brentley Bergmann from Tracy High; Damian Vallejos and Diego Morales from West High; Gabe Cortinas and Ruben Zamora from Kimball High; and Colton Duke and Marcus Martinez from Millennium High.
The South team also includes players from Argonaut, Holt Academy, East Union, Escalon, Lathrop, Los Banos, Manteca, Oakdale, Ripon and Weston Ranch high schools.
The North team includes three players from Delta Charter High, A.J. Pike, Trevor Maharaj and Jeremiah Fontenot, with most of the other North team players coming from Stockton and Lodi schools.
